Pierre-Luc Poujol is an artist of contradictions. He conveys the intimately spiritual by investigating and honoring our shared natural environment. He has studios in both a forested enclave of France and the urban social scene of Miami. As a painter, he prefers the “action painting” approach of never touching the canvas but directing the fluid medium from a distance; whereas as a sculptor, he uses his hands to directly shape and manipulate the materials. And as one person, he fuses all these disparate desires. It is unsurprising his work speaks to so many.

The most compelling element of Poujol’s work is the energy he imbues in each piece. Water ripples, boughs sway, and leaves ruffle. Colors vibrate. A seductive vigor pulses through his canvases, beckoning viewers ever closer until they become inhabitants of his painted worlds.
